\, 900–1700 nm) light has emerged as a powerful tool for bioimaging and
biosensing due to its deep tissuepenetration and low scattering. In this t
alk\, I will present how advanced nanomaterials can be designed to emit in
the NIR-II window and how their optical response can be used to extract f
unctional information from biological tissues. I will show recent examples
where tissue-induced spectral distortions enable label-free sensing of mo
lecular composition. In addition\, I will discuss how the combination of s
uitable materials and artificial intelligence can enable the transition fr
 om conventional 2D imaging to 3D information reconstruction. Finally\, I w
ill highlight how AI can assist in the analysis of complex optical data\,
opening new opportunities for real-time and quantitative biomedical imagin
