Systems and Innovation (ESI) Lab at the Australian National University (AN
 U) develops advanced electrochemical technologies to support the global tr
ansition to sustainable energy and environmental systems. Our research com
bines materials science\, electrochemistry\, and engineering to address ch
allenges in green hydrogen production\, electrochemical water treatment\,
and renewable energy conversion.</p>\n<p>In this seminar\, Dr. Farid Attar
\, a Research Fellow at the ESI Lab\, will introduce the laboratory's rese
arch activities\, with a particular focus on developing scalable electroca
talysts for alkaline and anion exchange membrane water electrolysis. The p
resentation will showcase a range of projects across the group\, highlight
ing our work on catalyst synthesis using solution-based and physical depos
ition techniques\, as well as materials modelling\, process optimisation\,
and electrochemical system simulation. It will also provide an overview o
 f the laboratory's research facilities\, international collaborations\, an
d ongoing efforts to bridge fundamental research with practical electroche

arid Attar is a Research Fellow in the Electrochemical Systems and Innovat
ion (ESI) Lab at the Australian National University (ANU)\, Australia\, le
d by Prof. Siva Karuturi. His research focuses on the development of advan
 ced electrocatalysts\, electrolyser design and development\, solar-to-hydr
ogen technologies\, and PFAS electrooxidation for sustainable energy and e
nvironmental applications. He completed his PhD in Engineering at ANU\, wh
ere his research centred on scalable catalyst synthesis using magnetron sp
uttering and the optimisation of alkaline and anion exchange membrane wate
r electrolysers. His work combines materials synthesis\, electrochemical c
haracterisation\, statistical modelling\, and COMSOL Multiphysics simulati
ons to bridge fundamental science with practical engineering solutions. As
part of the ESI Lab\, he collaborates with academic and industrial partne
rs in Australia and internationally to advance next-generation electrochem
ical technologies for clean energy conversion and environmental sustainabi
 lity.<br> <br> <b><strong>Hosted by </strong></b>Dr&nbsp\;Ernane de Freita
