ICN2 PhD student Civan Avci wins Best Presentation Award

PhD student Civan Avci of the Supramolecular NanoChemistry and Materials Group takes home the Best Presentation Award from the 2018 docMOF conference.

At the end of last month, PhD student Civan Avci of the Supramolecular NanoChemistry and Materials Group led by ICREA Prof. Daniel Maspoch attended the PhD-run symposium docMOF 2018 in Raitenhaslach, Germany. The event aimed to bring together young researchers working on metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) and related materials from throughout Europe and beyond.

With the title "Self-assembly of polyhedral metal-organic framework particles into three-dimensional ordered superstructures", Civan's contribution to the event was recognised with the Best Presentation Award, which came with a monetary reward to put towards attendance of the MOF2018 conference being held in Auckland, New Zealand in December this year.

Speaking about the event, Civan highlighted the unique setting of the Bavarian monastery Kloster Raitenhaslach, saying "it was a pleasure to do science in such a beautiful location". He is also very honoured to have won the award itself, saying that the level of all of the works presented was extremely high.
