 By Prof. Damion Corrigan\, University of Strathclyde\, Scotland\, UK</p>\n
 <p style="text-align: justify\;"><strong> Abstract</strong>:</p>\n<p>Biose
nsor research has delivered major advances in sensitivity\, selectivity\,
and analytical sophistication\, yet the translation of these technologies
into robust\, deployable systems remains a persistent challenge. This talk
will examine biosensor development from a research and translation perspe
 ctive\, spanning early-stage device design\, assay architecture\, fluidic
systems\, and analytical validation through to the constraints imposed by
real-world application. The presentation will highlight previous academic
work in surface chemistry\, receptor choice\, molecular engineering\, assa
y format\, and signal transduction.&nbsp\; Emphasis will be placed on elec
trochemical biosensors\, with discussion of strategies to reconcile analyt
ical excellence with simplicity\, robustness\, and manufacturability. The
talk will show that embedding translational awareness within academic bios
ensor research can strengthen both scientific quality and real-world relev
ance\, without compromising fundamental innovation. The talk will finish b
y showing how laboratory research is currently being translated through tw
 o companies\, Aureum Diagnostics and Microplate Dx.</p>\n<p><strong>Brief
Bio</strong>:</p>\n<p>Professor Damion Corrigan is Director of the Centre
for Advanced Measurement Science and Health Translation at the University
of Strathclyde\, where he leads interdisciplinary research in analytical a
nd measurement science\, with a focus on electrochemical biosensing for he
alth applications. He is also Chief Technical Officer of Microplate Dx and
Chief Scientific Officer of Aureum Diagnostics\, spin-out companies advan
cing rapid diagnostic technologies. Professor Corrigan was awarded the 202
5 Royal Society of Chemistry Analytical Science mid-career Prize for his i
nnovative contributions to electrochemical sensors for biomedical applicat
ions. He is a past recipient (2023) of the Praxis-Auril UK Academic Entrep
reneur of the Year Award\, recognising outstanding knowledge exchange and
entrepreneurial achievement in the UK. His work spans fundamental measurem
ent science through to translational innovation\, underpinning both academ
ic biosensor research and real-world diagnostic impact.</p>\n<p><strong>Ho
