In order to implement biosafety strategies according to national and international regulations, the ICN2 had previously initiated an on-site practical safety training for all users of the Biolab after joining the Institutional Biosafety Committee of the UAB (IBC-UAB). In 2020, this important training on Biosafety has been expanded by the development of a complementary theoretical training course available on the ICN2 online training portal and homologized by the IBC-UAB. The training course provides information about basic biosafety principles as well as detailed aspects of the ICN2 Biolab Facility Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and policies.

In 2020, the Biolab Facility has started to offer its service to other research centers and companies on the UAB campus. In particular, scientists from the neighboring Institute of Materials Science of Barcelona (ICMAB) made use of the service provided by the Biolab Facility. In addition, an agreement has been signed between ICN2 and ICMAB to even further strengthen the cooperation between the Biolab Facility and ICMAB.
