"Detectors around the objective lens inside a SEM specimen chamber: Left: Everhart-Thornley detector - ETD - secondary electrons (with its Faraday cage on the tip). Center: Backscattered electrons detector - BSED (the copper colored detector). The Energy Dispersive X-ray Spectroscopy (EDX) detector is situated between the ETD and the BSED (its tip is looking to the BSED). IR LEDs can also be seen around the objective lens (purple color)."
