- Title
- Hard disk drive (HDD) magnetoresistive head assembly
- Technique
- High Resolution Scanning Electron Microscopy (HRSEM)
- Description
- Hard disk drive (HDD) read/write device, also called magnetoresistive (MR) head assembly. This is the component that floats over the rotating magnetic disk inside a HDD and read/write the information recorded on it.
The white rectangular piece is called the slider. The slider is what actually floats over the magnetic disk. The real semiconductor device that reads/writes the bits over the magnetic disk of the HDD are the small straight pink lines over the black surface of the slider.
