Title
Lost in woven landscapes
Technique
Secondary Electron Detector of the SEM with a magnification of 135
Description
The picture was taken as part of a surface analysis of several fabrics. The woven structure of the sample creates a solid mountain landscape setting. The charging effects on this insulating sample intensify the viewers impression of topography in the structure, comparable to a mountain landscape during a sunset, where some valley areas lay in the dark and some tips receive the last sunlight of the day. Although the overall impression of this picture is static, the ordered fibers give the viewer the impressiion of fluency, as if the wind would pass over the landscape. Furthermore, the disordered fibers remind one of tiny creeks, which cut the area and bring more movement into this solid yet flowing picture. The more you look at this image, the more you will discover.
