- Title
- Composite Nano-Eggs
- Technique
- STEM in the Magellan electron microscope
- Description
- The image presents several core-shell composites that resemble the eggs of a frog or other amphibian animal. They are made from metal nanoparticles encapsulated inside a metal-organic framework (MOF). Just like the yolk and white of eggs many of the composites present a 1-to-1 centred encapsulation; which is only achieved by careful control of the nucleation and crystal growth conditions of the MOF.
