SUMMARY:From the Living World to the Thinking Mind: Creativity in the Age of AI
LOCATION:ICN2 Seminar Room, Campus UAB
DESCRIPTION:\nAn outreach talk aimed at anyone interested. \n\nDon’t miss this opportun
ity!\n\nREGISTER HERE to attend\n\nSpeaker: ICREA Prof. Stephan Roche, Theo
retical and Computational Nanoscience Group Leader\n\nAbstract: Creativity
is often defined as the power to imagine what does not yet exist and to bri
ng something genuinely new into the world. But is this still a uniquely hum
an gift, or is it becoming something that algorithms can imitate, scale, an
d perhaps one day rival?\nCan creativity itself be measured? Can we meaning
fully assess the creative force of a scientist, a research group, or even a
n entire research institute? And as artificial intelligence becomes ever mo
re powerful, should we begin to ask whether machines may one day appear “mo
re human than humans” in the way they generate ideas, solve problems, and r
eshape knowledge?\nAddressed to all curious spirits of ICN2, this talk open
s a window onto the fascinating and unsettling questions that creativity no
w raises for science and innovation. It is an invitation to debate how exce
llence can be sustained in a research institute like ICN2 within fast-chang
ing scientific, technological, and political ecosystems. The central challe
nge is clear: how do we harness AI as a powerful ally without eroding the i
rreducibly human ability to take intellectual risks, break conceptual bound
aries, and create something genuinely new?\n\n \n
