ERC Starting Grant awarded to ICN Prof. Dr. Adrian Bachtold

Prof. Dr. Adrian Bachtold, Group Leader of the Quantum Nanoelectronics Research Group at ICN, has been awarded one of only eight ERC Starting Grants granted by the European Commission in Catalonia in 2011.

The European Research Council (ERC) is supporting top performing early-career researchers over the coming five years with grants worth up to €2 million each. In 2011, the fourth 'ERC Starting Grant' competition, just over €670 million has been allocated to top talent to carry out their pioneering research in any domain throughout Europe. Some 480 researchers from all over Europe received these prestigious awards, 25 of them in Spain and 8 of them in Catalonia.

The projects selected cover a wide variety of topics: from studying the exceptional properties of biological

nanomaterials to the health impact of exposure to traffic noise and the role of economic media in financial crises.

 

The title of Dr. Bachtold’s project is NanoElectroMechanical Systems based on Carbon Nanotube and Graphene carbonNEMS and it will be funded for 5 years.
