AGAUR, CERCA, CSIC and ICN sign SUMA funding agreement

Catalan government funding agency AGAUR has awarded ICN2 with competitive funding won through CERCA’s SUMA programme, which aims to consolidate research centres in Catalonia.

The funds are destined for the completion of the merger between ICN and CSIC that formed ICN2.

ICN, CSIC, the Institute of Catalan Research Centres (CERCA), and the Catalan government funding agency AGAUR have signed an accord whereby the Agency will provide the Institute with the competitive funding that it recently won through CERCA’s SUMA programme. The accord was signed this morning by ICN director Prof Pablo Ordejón, AGAUR Director Pere Pardo and CERCA Director Lluis Rovira. It had early been signed by the Vice-President of Organisation and Institutional Relations (ORI) at CSIC, Jóse Ramón Urquijo. CSIC was represented this morning by its Delegate in Catalonia, Lluis Calvo. The SUMA programme is designed to consolidate research centres in Catalonia, so that they can reach a critical mass in terms of research staff, facilities and equipment. AGUAR’s awarding of competitive funding to ICN2 is testament to the Catalan government and CSIC’s dedication to the ICN2 initiative, which was borne of the merger between ICN and CSIC groups from CIN2.To learn more about the SUMA programme, click here.To learn more about AGAUR, click here.
