As part of a broader visit to the UAB Campus and its surroundings, a delegation from the Dominican Republic came to ICN2 on March 26th. The main objective of the delegation’s visit to ICN2 was to learn about the Institute’s model of research and technology transfer. ICN2 offered its cooperation to the visiting authorities, who are working to build nanoscience and nanotechnology research in the Dominican Republic.

The delegation consisted of the Director of the Parque Cibernético de Santo Domingo, the Vice Dean from the Universidad de Santiago de los Caballeros, and the Director of the Caribbean Industrial Park. The visitors were greeted and guided by Prof. Buenaventura Guamis, the CEO of UAB Research Park, and Yazmin Machuca, a Dominican representative in Catalonia from the Fundación Global Democracia y Desarrollo de Republica Dominicana.

Jordi Reverter, ICN2 Knowledge and Technology Transfer Manager, together with Alex Argemi, ICN2 Marketing and Communication Manager, talked to the delegation about the main statistics and achievements of the institute. The group then discussed ICN2’s technology transfer model, as well as the institute’s connections to its patrons and to local and global industry.  The UAB will work to establish stable collaborations with research institutions from the Dominican Republic.
