Four Vice-rectors complain in El Pais against the double auditing of research projects

The authors, including the Vice-Rector for Strategic Projects and Planning at UAB, Lluis Tort, believe the Ministry of Finance, through companies contracted for this purpose, is auditing projects years after its completion with an excessive cost in terms of personnel and time for the research centers.

On 28 June, 4 vice-rectors claimed in an opinion piece in El Pais that the double auditing of research projects discourage researchers and overloads them with administrative work. The Ministry of Finance is carrying out these audits through companies contracted for this purpose, several years after the completion of already audited projects. Although acknowledging that researchers should be audited and evaluated, the authors suggest that the cost of these double audits for the research centers exceeds the money recovered by the Ministry.

Lluis Tort, Vice-Rector for Strategic Projects and Planning at the Autonomous University of Barcelona, one of the institutions in the ICN2 Board of Patrons, is among the authors of this article entitled "Hacienda, contra la investigación".
