“Nano for Energy “ joins in Madrid the efforts of CSIC and CNR

The first Workshop CSIC-CNR (Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche) was chaired by Prof. Pedro Gómez-Romero (ICN2, CSIC) and Prof. Luigi Ambrosio (CNR).

The first Workshop CSIC-CNR (Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche) on Nano for Energy took place in Madrid on Nov 11-12 2014. It was a top-level meeting that brought together a selected group of experts (senior as well as junior scientists) on nano, materials science and energy applications from Research Centers from both Spanish and Italian Institutions, as well as representatives from key industries like Abengoa and Repsol. The meeting, was chaired by Prof. Pedro Gómez-Romero (ICN2, CSIC) and Prof. Luigi Ambrosio (CNR).

The meeting proceeded with a very active involvement and intense interaction of participants and led to strong consensus on the following points:

The strategic nature of energy technologies and the enabling character of nanoscience fully justify the topic of this first CSIC-CNR Workshop and would support the engagement in further following actions within the same topic.CSIC and CNR share many general objectives as well as specific goals in the area. This represents an optimal starting point to jointly tackle these goals by taking advantage of complementarities among groups. The workshop has allowed us to spot some relevant complementary expertise and common interests leading us to propose a shortlist of topics and groups with high potential to develop collaborative work. The required limitation in the number of groups participating in the Workshop necessarily means that other groups from both institutions could also fit within the proposed collaborative scheme.
