ICREA Prof Clivia Sotomayor-Torres participates in the the biggest EU event on ICT R&I

The ICT 2015 - Innovate, Connect, Transform will take place 20-22 October 2015 in Lisbon (Portugal). ICREA Research prof Clivia Sotomayor-Torres will participate in a parallel session devoted to "Multi-disciplinarity for Future Technology" and the EU-Korea Workshop, the 4th of a series of annual workshops EU-Korea in the area of nanomaterials, nanotechnologies and nanoelectronics.

Korea is a prominent global actor in ICT with a leading position in mobile computing, smart communication devices, micro and nano-electronics. The EU-Korea Workshop on Nanoelectronics is a two days event starting today that gathers a selected group of experts to discuss opportunities in the context of the ICT 2015 - Innovate, Connect, Transform (20-22 October 2015, Lisbon, Portugal). The short list of experts includes ICREA Research Prof Clivia Sotomayor-Torres, Group Leader at the ICN2 Phononic and Photonic Nanostructures (P2N) Group, who will offer the talk “Understanding thermal conductivity in ultra-thin SOI”.

The EU-Korea Workshop is the 4th of a series of annual workshops EU-Korea in the area of nanomaterials, nanotechnologies and nanoelectronics. The selected topics (2D material devices, neuromorphic electronics and spintronics) emerged as relevant areas in previous workshops. Speakers will have 15-20 minutes for their presentation, which will include scientific/technological achievements in the area as well as suggestions for future EU-Korea cooperation.

ICREA Research Prof Clivia Sotomayor-Torres will also participate in a parallel session of the ICT 2015. The session, entitled "Multi-disciplinarity for Future Technology", is a discussion around the role of multi-disciplinarity in future and emerging technologies. The discussion will help to approach the role of multi-disciplinarity in unleashing breakthroughs, creating new scientific fields and leading to new directions for research and innovation.
