ICREA Prof. Jordi Arbiol elected member of the IFSM Executive Board

The International Federation of Societies for Microscopy (IFSM) has appointed this ICN2 group leader for an eight-year period, starting in January 2019.

ICREA Prof. Jordi Arbiol, leader of the ICN2 Advanced Electron Nanoscopy Group, has been elected member of the Executive Board of the International Federation of Societies for Microscopy (IFSM) for the next eight years. The aim of this organisation is to contribute to the advancement of microscopy in all its aspects. It comprises microscopy societies from around the world, including the Spanish Microscopy Society (SME) presided over by Prof. Arbiol since September 2017.

This appointment brings a boost to existing actions at local level, such as those developed as part of the ICN2 Severo Ochoa Programme in collaboration with the Barcelona Institute of Science and Technology (BIST) and the ALBA Synchrotron. They promote a collaborative programme that includes technological development and the applications common to materials science, nanotechnology, biology and nanomedicine of electron microscopy and super-resolution optical microscopy linked to the synchrotron beam lines.
