The closing ceremony of the 7th Edition of Crazy for Physics engaged the young participants and their families

by Àlex Argemí

ICREA Prof. Stephan Roche delighted the attendees with some history about the first quantum revolution and inspiration to face the third one that will be tackled by the students who are now finishing their high-school studies. Àlex Argemí, Ana de la Osa and Sebastian Drisnchpun, from the coordinating institutions ICN2 and IFAE, conducted the event of this programme promoted by Fundació La Pedrera.

Bojos per la ciència (Crazy for Science) is a program developed by Fundació La Pedrera that stimulates talent and techno-scientific vocations of high school students.  25 High School students interacted during 16 work sessions with researchers from all the participating excellence centers offering exciting experiences that explore the biggest and the smallest scales of the universe. Coordinated from the ICN2 and the IFAE, Crazy for Physics also involves excellent centres such as UAB, ICMAB, ICFO and Alba Synchrotron.

The event was held in Barcelona, gathering the young high school students and their families. Àlex Argemí, Head of Marketing and Communication at the ICN2, and Sebastian Grinschpun, Head of Communication at IFAE, conducted the event that included a scientific and a social part. The science was brough by ICREA Prof. Stephan Roche, Group Leader of the ICN2 Theoretical and Computational Nanoscience, who discussed about the advances in quantum computing that are leading to a third revolution that will be developed by the new young researchers. The social part was centred on the experiences that the students gathered during the programme and engaging with their families, who were enthusiastic abut the initiative.
