by Virginia Greco

Former PhD student at the ICN2 in Prof. Pablo Ordejón’s group.

Dr Bogdan Guster developed his doctoral research at the ICN2 under the supervision of group leader Prof. Pablo Ordejón and CSIC Tenured Scientist Dr Miguel Alonso Pruneda, from the ICN2 Theory and Simulation Group, as well as of Prof. Enric Canadell, from ICMAB-CSIC. He defended his thesis, titled “A bird’s-eye view of charge and spin density wave from first principles calculations”, in July 2019. This study earned him the Extraordinary Doctorate Prize in Physics 2018-2019 of the Universitat Autonoma de Barcelona (UAB).

The UAB Extraordinary Doctorate Prizes are awarded to graduate students across all the areas of the Doctoral Programme among all the theses defended in an academic year (one prize for every five theses), without the doctor being required to apply for it. Awardees are entitled to a refund of the fee they paid to apply for the degree and to a certificate.
