Abstract: Ion migration influences the performance and stability of perovskite solar cells (PSCs). Different experimental techniques have been used to better understand the puzzling performance of ion migration in PSCs.  In this work, we characterize ion migration using two complementary spectroscopic techniques. Impedance spectroscopy (IS) measurements, supported by drift-diffusion simulations, are applied to NiOx-based PSCs with different interface passivation treatments[1]. The simulations allow the interpretation of experimental IS data under various illumination intensities and bias-stress tests, indicating that interface modification can reduce electron mobility in NiOx and ion mobility in the perovskite layer. Operando X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (opXPS) on lateral PSCs is further used to study interfacial electronic changes induced by ion migration[2-3]. These combined results enhance our understanding of ion migration and its impact on PSC performance and operational stability.
