Dr Maria Soler, senior researcher at the ICN2 Nanobiosensors and Bioanalytical Applications Group (NanoB2A), has been awarded the JPhys Photonics Emerging Leaders 2025 Award. This annual distinction, presented by the JPhys Photonics journal (IOP Publishing), highlights outstanding researchers who obtained their PhD in 2015 or later and are driving innovation in the field of photonics.

The award was given in recognition of her paper, 'All-dielectric photonic nanoresonators for visible-range biosensing with cell-mimetic functionalisation', which was included in the journal's 2025 Emerging Leaders collection. Each year, the journal selects one winner from among the authors featured in this collection, which showcases some of the most significant photonics research published that year.

In announcing the award, the Editorial Board emphasised the impact and translational potential of Dr Soler’s research, noting its importance for developing next-generation diagnostic tools in areas of significant societal relevance, such as oncology. Here at ICN2, we are proud to congratulate Dr Soler on this outstanding achievement and the recognition it brings to her work.
