Nanodevices for Social Challenges
ICN2’s Severo Ochoa programme reinforced the institute’s scientific excellence, international leadership, and societal impact. Over this period, the programme focused on translating nanoscale knowledge into innovative devices and technologies addressing challenges in health, energy, the environment, and information and communication technologies.
It strengthened interdisciplinary collaboration, facilitated recruitment of talented researchers, enhanced infrastructure and equipment, and reinforced ICN2’s global visibility and technology transfer activities.
Application Domains
Enabling Research Areas
Cross-cutting Initiatives beyond research
- Recruitment and Training: co-funded PhDs and postdocs, enhanced staff recruitment and career development.
- Internationalisation: expanded ICN2’s international collaborations and participation in European research networks.
- Exploitation of Research Outcomes: promoted technology transfer, spin-offs, patents, and the practical application of research results.
- Dissemination of Research Outcomes: organised workshops, conferences, outreach activities, and communicated ICN2 research to society and industry.
Severo Ochoa Workshops
The ICN2 Severo Ochoa workshops brought together researchers, industry partners, and students to share progress, foster collaboration, and translate research into impact.
Severo Ochoa in numbers
The Severo Ochoa programme reinforced ICN2’s scientific identity and institutional development. It facilitated new research groups, strengthened international participation, increased scientific production and quality, and consolidated technology transfer.
