Ramon Tremosa, the Catalan Minister of Business and Knowledge, announced a new public-private investment fund

The Minister of Business and Knowledge of the Generalitat de Catalunya, Ramon Tremosa, visited ALBA Synchrotron on Monday 16 November to meet several directors of Catalan research centers, including Prof. Pablo Ordejón, ICN2 Director. He announced the creation of a public-private investment fund for promoting scientific knowledge and entrepreneurship initiatives. 

On Monday 16 November, the Minister of Business and Knowledge of the Generalitat de Catalunya (Catalan Government) Ramon Tremosa visited ALBA SynchrotronApproaching the scientific community, the policymaker gained a better insight about this strategic installation and the services that ALBA offers to Catalan researchers and society. Guided by ALBA’s director Caterina Biscariminister Tremosa’s visit to the installations concluded with a meeting with the directors of various Catalan research centers, including Prof. Pablo Ordejón, director of the ICN2 

Minister Tremosa announced that the Government is working on the creation of a public-private investment fund to promote the transfer of knowledge from Catalan research. Another objective is to improve Catalan’s research innovation rate, which is currently below the European average. "We are working on a government agreement that commits 5 million euros from next year's budget and 5 million more from 2022", said the minister at the meeting event. This new financial infrastructure must improve the transfer of knowledge and promote scientific entrepreneurship initiatives in the fields of universities, research, business, industry, and green energy, among others.
