3 projects involving researchers from ICN2 among the 5 finalists of the PRUAB Ideas Generation Program
The fourth edition of the Ideas Generation Program has announced its finalists. Among the 5 finalists 3 are involving researchers from ICN2: Organic Infra Sensing (with Anna Magrasó, Nanomaterials Growth Division), 2D EDGE (with Damia Viana, Advanced Electronic Materials and Devices Group) and Pump It (with Carlos Rubio, previous member of the Nanomaterials Growth Division).
The fourth edition of the PRUAB Ideas Generation Program has selected its finalists. The five finalists were announced on November 20, after a day in which all projects were submitted to a jury including Tania Sagaste, director of LaSalle Technova Barcelona; Carlos Raga, from the UAB Valorisation and Patents Office, and Albert Ventura, entrepreneur and investor.
Among the 5 finalists, 3 are involving researchers from ICN2:
Organic Infra Sensing (with Anna Magrasó, Nanomaterials Growth Division). This a project is developing a new material called "Bi-Layer" Film, completely organic and sensitive to infrared radiation. The characteristics of this material make it ideal for producing sensor capable of detecting IR distant objects with a cheaper cost, lower consumption and without refrigeration.2D EDGE (with Damia Viana, Advanced Electronic Materials and Devices Group). This initiative aims to achieve a continuous production platform of quality graphene. The ability to produce continuous graphene sheets will optimize production costs and facilitate the use of graphene in a wide range of technological applications. Pump It (with Carlos Rubio, previous member of the Nanomaterials Growth Division). The project has a multifunctional system for microfluidic devices which implements extremely accurate piezoelectric materials as pumping mechanism.
On December 3 the three winners will be chosen by a jury of valorisation business ideas experts and will receive a first prize of € 2,500, six months in incubation in the Eureka Building at the UAB Research Park and counselling, a second prize of € 1,500 and a third prize of 1,000 €.
