A pilot line to create plastic parts with advanced automotive features

by Àlex Argemí

PLASTFUN project develops techniques and methods for the establishment of a pilot line for the industrial manufacture of plastic injection molded parts with surfaces that have advanced functions for the automotive sector. It is a project of the RIS3CAT Industries of the Future (IdF) Community, coordinated by Eurecat and cofunded by FEDER, with the participation the ICN2 among other industrial and research partners.

The Eurecat technology center (a member of Tecnio) coordinates the PLASTFUN project, which develops techniques and methods for the establishment of a pilot line for the industrial manufacture of plastic injection molded parts with surfaces that have advanced functions for the automotive sector. The developed technologies will be validated in two industrial prototypes that will show the possibility to create integrated light effects with printed circuits containing LEDs as well as the advances in the nanotexturization of pieces with integrated printed sensors.

The PLASTFUN project is developed at the Eurecat Plastrónica pilot plant, located in the Cerdanyola del Vallès facility, which will allow companies in the region to develop new products with these technologies and acquire the necessary knowledge for their profitable production. It is a project of the RIS3CAT Industries of the Future (IdF) Community coordinated by Eurecat with the participation the ICN2 among other industrial and research partners.
