Open Knowledge Programme: Intellectual Property and Innovation

by Virginia Greco

Dr. Pablo Pomposiello, Leader of the Business and Innovation Department, and Jordi Reverter, Intellectual Property and Technology Transfer Officer, discussed intellectual property protection, innovation and translation of technology from research to industry in a two-day appointment of the OKP series.

In December 2021, a new event of the ICN2 Open Knowledge Programme was organized and held at the ICN2 in a hybrid format. Dr. Pablo Pomposiello, Leader of the Business and Innovation Department, and Jordi Reverter, Intellectual Property and Technology Transfer Officer in the same group, explained the processes of protecting the intellectual property and finding business opportunities to translate research outcomes to the industry. This tenth chapter of the OKP Programme was structured as a two-day event. First, on December 2, Reverter discussed knowledge and technology transfer, intellectual property and related issues. Then, on December 13, Dr. Pomposiello focused on the concept of innovation and the road to the market, bringing some success cases at the ICN2 as examples.

More details on the topics discussed and the recording of both events are available to all ICN2 personnel (via login) in the Open Knowledge Programme section of our website. The videos of the previous events can also be found here.

The ICN2 Open Knowledge Programme was developed as a forum for the exchange of knowledge, experiences and skills among ICN2 colleagues and aim at addressing broad topics from different angles. While this project is Coordinated by Human Resources, the programme of the individual events is proposed and created by the ICN2 group/department involved. The talks tend to be highly specialised, while also offering an overview of the topic for researchers in other fields and advanced science graduates.
