Two projects based on ICN2 technologies and involving Clúster MAV receive grants for Innovative Business Groups

by Virginia Greco

Technologies developed at ICN2 and now being introduced to the market are at the core of the Smart Battery Case 2 and H2oMe projects. These are two of the six funded projects in which Cluster MAV is a leader or participant.

The list of projects that will receive a Grant for Innovative Business Groups (AEI), promoted by the Spanish Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Tourism –as part of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan–, has been published today. The Cluster of Advanced Materials of Catalonia (Clúster MAV), of which ICN2 is a member, leads five of the projects that will be funded through this programme and participates in a sixth one.

Among them, Smart Battery Case 2 and H2oMe are based on technologies developed at the ICN2, by members of the former Photonic and Phononic Nanostructures Group –who started the spin-off company Cooling Photonics to bring their technology to the market-- and members of the Magnetic Nanostructures Group, respectively.

Smart Battery Case 2 aims at developing functionalised materials for electromobility and, specifically, digitized and technologically advanced battery boxes for electric cargo drones. Its total budget is €285,717 and the received subsidy €225,785. Members of the Business Group: Compoxi, Cooling Photonics, Rotimpres, CAT UAV, Packaging Cluster and MAV Cluster.

H2oMe will develop an inductive reactor of high energy efficiency for the distributed generation of H2 without CO2 emission through catalytic pyrolysis of methane. The envisioned applications are primarily in the automotive industry. The total budget of the project is €222,805 and the granted subsidy €161,426. Members of the Business Group: AMES, Equilab, AESA, IMB-CNM-CSIC, CIAC and MAV Cluster.
