The Business and Innovation Department presented its application for the project of the spin-off INBRAIN Neuroelectronics. This recognition underlines ICN2's commitment to knowledge transfer and cutting-edge research in nanotechnology.
Through its Business and Innovation (B&I) team, ICN2 has been selected as a finalist in the prestigious ASTP Impact Awards 2025, organised by Europe's leading association of knowledge transfer professionals. The nomination, in the "Deal of the Year" category with the INBRAIN Neuroelectronics project, recognises the company as a successful case of graphene technology transfer.
INBRAIN, a spin-off from ICN2 and ICREA, focuses on the development of graphene-based brain implants for therapeutic applications. The company was created in 2019, based on excellent research in advanced materials carried out at ICN2. Two of the institute's Group Leaders, Prof. Jose A. Garrido and Prof. Kostas Kostarelos, are among its founders. INBRAIN serves as an exemplary model of how scientific innovation can be translated into technological solutions with significant social and economic impact.
The application has passed the first selection phase and is now in the final voting phase. ASTP members will vote for their favourite candidates this week.
ICN2 congratulates the B&I team and INBRAIN Neuroelectronics for this important recognition and wishes them success in this final phase.
