Both institutions have renewed and expanded their strategic alliance with the aim of promoting research in materials science and offering new training opportunities.
On 19 June, ICN2 and the European hub of RMIT University, RMIT Europe, signed the renewal and extension of their partnership, a new collaboration agreement that builds on a successful relationship that has already resulted in several joint projects. At ICN2, we are delighted to continue our collaboration with a world-leading institution in areas such as education, technology, and enterprise.
Prof. Pablo Ordejón, Director of ICN2, remarked that "this agreement strengthens an exemplary international collaboration, fostering both research and talent development. ICN2 and RMIT already collaborate on various initiatives, including the COFUND REDI and AuSpire programmes, which support young researchers at doctoral and postdoctoral levels respectively. Now, both institutions are looking to expand their training programme.”
Another excellent example of successful collaboration between the two centres is ALCOAT, a joint EU project focused on developing aluminium alloy-based coatings for structures exposed to various atmospheric conditions, as a safer and more sustainable alternative to zinc coatings. As part of this project, on Tuesday 17, ICN2 hosted the 5th ALCOAT meeting —in which both RMIT University and RMIT Europe representatives participated— to present progress and outline the next steps in the work packages.
Through this initiative, ICN2 and RMIT reaffirm their commitment to scientific excellence and institutional collaboration as key drivers of innovation and real impact on society.
