Nanoseminar in Chemistry & Materials by: Prof. Erik Johansson, Angström Laboratory, Physical Chemistry, Uppsala Universitet, Sweden

Abstract: I will present an overview of work on new solar cell materials with a focus on metal halide perovskites and metal sulphide quantum dots, performed in my research group.

Results on different compositions of perovskite and quantum dot materials will be discussed and also how control of interfaces is important to reduce detrimental defect states. Different organic hole transport materials and 2D materials are compared for extraction of holes in the solar cells, and interesting effects on efficiency and stability are observed. Especially we show that for flexible solar cells MoS2 nanosheets on the perovskite surface improves the performance and stability. For quantum dot solar cells we discuss how different ligands and ligand exchange methods affect the results, and utilize the quantum dots in semitransparent and flexible solar cell devices. Results for lead-free perovskites based on silver-bismuth halides and lead-free quantum dots based on silver-bismuth-sulphide will be presented and possibilities for future development will also be discussed.

Introductory talk: "An open-access database and analysis tool for perovskite solar cells. How the Perovskite Database was created and how it can be utilized. " by Fanny Baumann, Doctoral Student at Nanostructured Materials for Photovoltaic Energy
