She will spend one year at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Information Technology and Media Technology of BUW, where she will take part in research on energy-efficient communication technologies and give lectures.

ICREA Prof. Dr Clivia Sotomayor-Torres, leader of the ICN2 Phononic and Photonic Nanostructures Group, has just joined the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Information Technology and Media Technology of the University of Wuppertal (Bergische Universität Wuppertal- BUW, Germany) for a semester as a visiting professor. For her, this is a return to an already known place since she was a professor at BUW from 1996 to 2004.

Prof. Sotomayor-Torres started her stay in Germany participating as a lecturer in an event organized by the Wuppertal Centre for Smart Materials & Systems (CM@S), which took place on October 24. She gave a talk titled ‘Towards lossless information transmission in ICT where she introduced her work on energy-efficient communication technologies and talked about the LEIT project, which was awarded a European Research Council (ERC) Advanced Grant in late 2020.

'We are very pleased to have here Prof. Sotomayor-Torres, such an internationally renowned colleague with whom we can engage in an intensive exchange on future-oriented technologies in the field of materials research,' commented Prof. Dr Anton Kummert, Dean of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Information Technology and Media Technology of BUW.

In the coming months, Prof. Sotomayor-Torres will take part in various scientific and institutional activities at the University of Wuppertal. She will contribute to research on materials for communication and energy technologies and give lectures and seminars for fellow researchers and current university students.
