Nanoscience vs. COVID19

New COVID-19 disease

What the ICN2 is doing

COVID-19 is an infectious disease caused by the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus. It is having an unprecedented impact on our lives, bringing out the worst and best in us.
One of humanity’s best responses is science.

Covid-19

Knowledge generation and advances should not be slowed down by the current health crisis. In this sense, the ICN2 like so many other research centres shares the frontline with our medical staff and other public services. Teams, resources and equipment are being redirected to this endeavour. New funding is being made available at national and international level to boost our immediate response and to allow us to be prepared for the future.

How can the ICN2 be part of the solution?

The ICN2 has reacted quickly to this situation. Its researchers and other personnel have refocused their efforts towards mitigating the impact of COVID-19. Indeed, the ICN2 Director made the decision to redirect funds from our Severo Ochoa Centre of Excellence Programme to drive these initiatives, giving priority to promising new and current research lines from our Health application domain.
