Former ICN2 PhD student receives SME Best PhD Thesis in Materials Science Award
Dr PengYi Tang has been granted the 2017-2018 Best PhD Thesis in Materials Science Award by the Spanish Microscopy Society (SME) for the research on materials for energy storage and conversion that he developed as a doctoral student at the ICN2.
The Spanish Microscopy Society (SME), gathering public and private research institutes and industries that apply advanced microscopy technologies to develop their activities, awards a biennial prize for the best doctoral theses in the fields of materials science, life science and technological development. The Best PhD Thesis in Materials Science Award of the 2017-2018 term has been conferred on former ICN2 doctoral student Dr PengYi Tang for his work on “Semiconductor Composite Materials for Energy Storage and Conversion Applications”.
Dr Tang conducted this research under the supervision of ICREA Prof. Jordi Arbiol, leader of the ICN2 Advanced Electron Nanoscopy group, and Prof. Joan Ramon Morante of the Catalonia Institute for Energy Research (IREC). The honour was awarded to Dr Tang at the Microscopy at the Frontiers of Science 2019 (MFS2019), VI Meeting of the Spanish Microscopy Society and of the Portuguese Microscopy Society (SPMicros), held in Granada, 11-13 September 2019.
