The ICN2 will shine at Nanotech Japan

by Àlex Argemí

Together with CERCA and CSIC the ICN2 will have a central role at the Spanish Pavilion of the Nanotech 2020 starting tomorrow. With over 350 exhibitors, this event is a huge meeting point for industry and academic institutions. The event is sided by the 1&2D materials congress, starting today, a Japan-Albania-Spain workshop, to be held tomorrow and organized by ICREA Prof. Arben Merkoçi and Phantoms Foundation, and a visit to RIKEN headquarters.

The ICN2 has travelled to Japan to strengthen its institutional bounds with long-time partners, such as CERCA and CSIC, and to explore new scientific and business opportunities in a very lively international event. The ICN2 delegation is headed by the ICN2 Director and Group Leader, Prof. Pablo Ordejón, and includes Group Leaders CSIC Prof. Pedro Gómez, ICREA Prof. Arben Merkoçi and ICREA Prof. Stephan Roche, Senior Researchers such as Dr Ruslán Álvarez and Dr César Moreno, as well as representatives from the Business and Innovation Area, Dr Cinzia Spinato, and the Marketing and Communication Department, Dr Viriginia Greco.

The tight agenda started today with the 1&2D Materials International Conference and Exhibition, the second edition of an event attracting global participants to share, exchange and explore new avenues of graphene, nanotubes and other 1&2DM-related scientific and commercial developments. The ICN2 is among the event organisers together with the Phantoms Foundation.

On the other hand, everything is ready for the Nanotech 2020 International Nanotechnology Exhibition and Conference starting tomorrow (Japan, 29-31 January 2020). The ICN2 is sharing a booth with CERCA at the Spanish pavilion to showcase a wide range of technologies and applications with high commercial potential. The ICN2 is neighbour to CSIC completing an institutional triad that will offer an excellent view of the nanotechnology being developed in Spain and Catalonia.

The ICN2 will be showcasing some business opportunities such as smart inks to prevent counterfeiting, stamped conductive graphene nano films and micro structured films for surface radiative cooling. There will also be biomedical applications, including the graphene-based brain-computer interfaces, superhidrophobic materials, energy-related materials or different sensing technologies with infinite possibilities for companies and collaborators of all kind. Drop by our booth and meet the power of the science that moves the ICN2.

Finally, another highlighted event taking place tomorrow in Japan is the Japan-Albania-Spain workshop. Its objective is to enhance the cooperation between three countries, Albania, Japan and Spain in the field of Nanoscience and Nanotechnologies and their applications in important areas such as life sciences, information technologies and energy. The event will be celebrated with the support of the ICN2, CERCA (with its Director, Lluís Rovira, attending the event) and BIST, jointly representing the top research centers in Catalonia, the university of Tirana (Albania) and the University of Tokyo (Japan), with the participation of the Ambassador of Albania in Tokyo. A visit to RIKEN headquarters is also scheduled to keep building a professional relationship with them and creating exchange opportunities.
