GraphenicaLab receives one Factories of the Future Award

by Francisco Paños

Awarded by Advanced Factories, these prizes want to foster innovation in the industrial sector. The spin-off from the ICN2 GraphenicaLab is among the 4 awarded companies, out of more than 170 candidates.

Advanced Factories is an annual meeting of industrial companies. The organisers of this event award the innovation in industry through the Factories of the Future Awards, a way of recognising and making visible the companies that promote the technological transformation of the country’s business fabric.

More than 170 companies and projects submitted their application to these awards, but only four have been selected. Specifically, the “T-Systems Prize to the most disruptive startup in the industrial field” has been for GraphenicaLab, a spin off from the ICN2’s Nanobioelectronics and Biosensors Group, led by ICREA Prof. Arben Merkoçi, that combines nanotechnology and printed electronics for rapid prototyping. Its vision to transfer graphene-based solutions from the lab to daily industrial uses with high savings in costs and environmental impact has made it worthy of the award.
