The Ministry of Science and Innovation releases a video to explain the key aspects of the CoNVaT project

The EU project CoNVaT wants to develop a biosensor device to detect the Covid-19 disease. Prof. Laura Lechuga and Dr Maria Soler, from the Nanobiosensors and Bioanalytical Applications Group, explain the project in a way that is accessible to all.

The Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation has released a video in which Prof. Laura Lechuga and postdoctoral researcher María Soler explain the main characteristics of the CoNVaT project. This EU project aims to develop a biosensor device to detect the Covid-19 disease in less than 30 minutes.

Prof. Laura Lechuga, Group Leader of the ICN2 Nanobiosensors and Bioanalytical Applications Group, explains that their goal is to develop a biosensor device to detect the whole virus from patient samples, and that the CoNVaT project combines efforts and expertise in coronaviruses from institutions in France, Italy and Spain. Plus, Dr Maria Soler adds that they will be able to identify between different kinds of coronaviruses and determine the viral load of each patient. She also welcomes the fact that society is becoming aware of the relevance of research to overcome and prevent these types of crises.
