The spin-off Applied Nanoparticles has prepared materials to entertain and educate the little ones during the confinement

by Francisco Paños

ICREA Prof. Víctor Puntes, Group Leader of the ICN2 Inorganic Nanoparticles Group, has participated in this project providing some images to “nanocolour”.

In the context of the coronavirus crisis, Applied Nanoparticles SL (an ICN2, ICREA and UAB spin-off) has prepared two notebooks for children and parents in order to make the confinement more bearable. This action has been carried out in the framework of the project BIP-CO: Launching BioGAS+ iron nanoparticles additive for biogas output optimization in Colombia, which has received funding through the EU Horizon 2020 programme.

The notebooks are called Nanocolorear en tiempos de Coronavirus (Nanocolouring in times of Coronavirus) and include a set of materials to educate and entertain both youngsters and grown-ups. In the first notebook, child psychologist Manuela Molina Cruz tells a story explaining the basic aspects of the COVID-19 disease, and ICREA Prof. Víctor Puntes, Group Leader of the ICN2 Inorganic Nanoparticles Group, offers a set of nanocolouring sheets depicting some inorganic nanoparticles as they are observed with an electronic microscope. The notebook also includes an infographic on the coronavirus disease and basic information about the BIP-CO project.
