The European Commission interviews ICREA Prof. Stephan Roche to talk about graphene

by Francisco Paños

The ICN2 Group Leader shows the different applications of graphene and the relevance of the Graphene Flagship to accelerate the innovation process.

The Representation of the European Commission in Catalonia and the Balearic Islands has prepared a video to talk about the relevance of graphene in diverse applications. ICREA Prof. Stephan Roche, Group Leader at the ICN2 Theoretical and Computational Nanoscience Group and Division Leader at the Graphene Flagship, stars in the video discussing this and other related materials.

Prof. Roche highlights the role of the collaboration between public institutions and several companies to foster research on graphene. He also comments on the role of graphene in the different research lines being developed at the ICN2, and the possibilities of this material to facilitate a digital and green transition in our societies, a main objective of the European Commission.

“Europe shows that a commitment to knowledge is truly essential for the future. If we only use today's technology and try to improve that a little more, we may find ourselves in a bottleneck where innovation is no longer possible. On the contrary, if we are aware of new types of materials and properties we can have much more possibilities, which is what Europe is showing with commitments such as the Graphene Flagship,” concludes Prof. Roche.
