by Virginia Greco

The ICN2 invites you to attend the 2nd Severo Ochoa Workshop on Energy and the 2nd Women in Renewable Energy (WiRE) Day, which will be held jointly on 16 October 2020. Register now to learn about new trends in renewable energy and the important role played by female researchers and engineers in this field.

On Friday 16 October 2020, the ICN2 will host the 2nd Severo Ochoa Workshop dedicated to the Energy Application Domain, which is one of the four main areas of the ICN2 Severo Ochoa Programme. The event will be held jointly with the 2nd Women in Renewable Energy (WiRE) Day, organised by Prof. Mónica Lira-Cantú, leader of the ICN2 Nanostructured Materials for Photovoltaic Energy group, and Prof. Zakya Kafafi, Adjunct Professor at the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering of Lehigh University in Bethlehem (USA).

Top international female leaders will present the latest results of their studies in the energy field and will discuss key trends in renewable energy research. Throughout eight web-talks presented in a dynamic and interactive format, the speakers will cover many relevant topics, including: new materials; devices and architectures for renewable energy; and novel applications (such as self-powered devices for wearables and sensors). This one-day conference will conclude with a round table, in which the role that female leadership plays in scientific research, education and innovation – especially in the field of renewable energy – will be discussed.

Save the date – Friday 16 October 2020, starting at 2.50pm – and register as soon as possible (registration is free).
