New edition of the course against microaggressions and harassment offered by CERCA

by Oriol Roig

CERCA organises the third edition of the course “From microaggressions to harassment. Women in scientific research”, to discuss violence and gender discrimination at work. It will be available from May 10 to June 4.

For yet another year, CERCA is holding the online course “From microaggressions to harassment. Women in scientific research”, which is available to be completed any time between May 10 and June 4. Its aim is to make attendees reflect on harassment dynamics in the workplace and to provide them with tools for detecting violence against women, especially in the context of research centres. It also covers gender bias in science, the so-called sticky floor phenomenon –which affects particularly women– as well as how the COVID-19 crisis affected female researchers.

After the second edition organised last year, participants –who were asked to provide feedback– valued the course positively, even though some of them recognised this topic as very sensitive, even taboo. This motivated CERCA to make the course available this year again, with the hope of keeping the discussion on these topics alive and to involve as much employees of all the member centres as possible.
