Former PhD student at the ICN2, in Prof. Merkoçi’s group.

Dr Luis Miguel Baptista Pires developed his thesis work, titled “From Nanoparticles to graphene: architecting novel (bio)sensing platforms and devices”, in the ICN2 Nanobioelectronics and Biosensors Group, led by ICREA Prof. Arben Merkoçi. This research earned him the Extraordinary Doctorate Prize 2016-2017 in Biotechnology of the Universitat Autonoma de Barcelona (UAB).

The UAB Extraordinary Doctorate Prizes are awarded to graduate students across all the areas of the Doctoral Programme among all the theses defended in an academic year (one prize for every five theses), without the doctor being required to apply for it. Awardees are entitled to a refund of the fee they paid to apply for the degree and to a certificate.
