From mobiles to renewables: Prof. Pedro Gómez-Romero talks about the future of energy storage in “Ciencia para llevar”

by Virginia Greco

The popular science blog of CSIC in ‘20minutos’ welcomes a contribution from ICN2 group leader Prof. Gómez-Romero, who talks in simple terms about batteries and supercapacitors for electronics and automotive.

With the crisis of raw materials for electronics and energy storage and the skyrocketing increase of their prices, the time has come to start the “post-lithium” era, i.e. to introduce to the market new types of batteries (for electronic equipment, cars, etc.) that researchers have been developing for decades in their laboratories.

Prof. Pedro Gómez-Romero, leader of the Novel Energy-Oriented Materials Group (NEO-Energy) at the ICN2, discusses the state-of-the-art and future of energy storage technologies, as well as the role they will play in the renewable energy transition, on the virtual pages of ‘20minutos’. His clear and explicative article, written (in Spanish) for a large public, has been posted in ‘Ciencia para llevar’, the science blog of CSIC hosted by ‘20minutos’. Read here the full article.
