Núria Benítez, from the ICN2 Strategy Development team, will participate on Friday 20 January in the first meeting of the "Foro para la reforma de la evaluación de la investigación".

ICN2 is proud to announce its involvement in the Coalition for Advancing Research Assessment (CoARA), a global coalition of research funding organizations, research performing organizations, national and regional assessment authorities, and other relevant organizations. The coalition is committed to implementing responsible and effective research assessment practices, based on a set of 10 common principles and commitments.

As a signatory of the CoARA agreement and a constitutive member, ICN2 is committed to recognizing the diversity of contributions to research and basing assessment primarily on qualitative evaluations with peer review at the center. The coalition also aims to abandon the use of inappropriate journal- and publication-based metrics, such as the Journal Impact Factor (JIF) and h-index, in research assessment.

Furthermore, ICN2 is dedicated to committing resources to reforming research assessment, reviewing and developing assessment criteria and tools, raising awareness of research assessment reform and providing transparent communication, guidance, and training on assessment criteria and processes.

ICN2 is proud to be a part of this coalition from its constitution and to actively contribute to the systemic reform of research assessment. Its members look forward to exchanging practices and experiences with other organizations within the coalition to enable mutual learning and improve research assessment practices.

As a sign of its commitment, Núria Benítez, from the ICN2 Strategy Development team, will participate on Friday 20 January in the first meeting of the "Foro para la reforma de la evaluación de la investigación", which is organized by the Spanish Ministry of Universities and CRUE in the context of CoARA.
