Dr Sohini Sinha and Dr Kumara Cordero win the BIST Scientific Project Management Competition 2023
Their pitch on the BIO-SWIN project earned them an award in the competition organised as part of the Scientific Project Management Course offered by BIST.
The 3rd edition of the Course on Scientific Project Management organised by the Barcelona Institute of Science and Technology (BIST) and taught by Dr Iolanda Marchueta, a senior advisor and professor specialized in transversal leadership and high-performance teams, has just come to an end. Held between April and June 2023, it concluded with a competition, in which the participants were asked to pitch their project proposals in front of a jury, applying the methodology and tools learned during the course.
Dr Sohini Sinha, a member of the ICN2 Nanostructured Functional Materials Group (NANOSFUN), and Dr Kumara Cordero, a postdoctoral researcher in the Oxide Nanophysics Group, were among the winners of this year’s edition, presenting their BIO-SWIN project. Specifically, they received the audience award for the best pitch, among the 10 projects presented.
The mission of BIO-SWIN is to develop a bio-based innovative technology for a greener world by implementing bio-based encapsulation of photochromic dyes to build smart windows. This research will also accelerate and bring new ideas to the on-going project called SOLAR, carried out by the NANOSFUN group in collaboration with its spin-off company Futurechrome S.L.
The BIST Course on Scientific Project Management is offered to members of the BIST centres interested in learning the basic concepts, techniques, and procedures –as well as getting a broad and general vision— of the management of scientific projects. Articulated in five different sessions, the course combines theory and practice and uses the principles of collaborative learning through the preparation of practical cases in groups, always with a hands-on approach.
Congratulations to Dr Sinha and Dr Cordero on this achievement!
