ICREA Prof. Clivia M. Sotomayor is among the authors of the scientific evaluation report of the CNRS
Le Monde publishes a post highlighting the analysis and recommendations of this report directed by Rémi Quirion, first Chief Scientist of Quebec, and recently presented by Alain Fuchs, president of the CNRS.
Alain Fuchs, president of the French National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS) since 2010, presented on January 18 a scientific evaluation report of the CNRS by an Advisory Committee directed by Rémi Quirion, the first Chief Scientist of Quebec. The report highlights the budgetary restrictions that governments have inflicted on the CNRS for ten years and suggests budgets be increased significantly in order to adequately support long-term research programs.
CNRS leads the Nature Index for the total number of publications in scientific journals with impact factors in terms of the number of standardized publications per researcher. It ranks 5th among the world's leading innovators and ranks 6th among patent applicants in France in 2015. In addition, CNRS researchers rank first in Europe in obtaining grants from the Competitive European Research Council (ERC).
The report about the CNRS by an Advisory Committee, which included ICREA Research Prof. Clivia M. Sotomayor Torres, Group Leader at ICN2, analyses the strengths and weaknesses of this institution and offers recommendations to maintain and increase its excellence.
