La SER explains ICN2’s graphene-based brain-computer interfaces

by Àlex Argemí

La Ventana, a successful program from the Spanish radio station Cadena SER, interviewed ICREA Prof. Jose Antonio Garrido.

Brain-computer interfaces offer up a whole host of possibilities for transferring data directly from the brain to an external device. This technology is being developed within initiatives such as the BrainCom project to record and interpret the wealth of electrical signals underlying speech formation in the brain. The project, coordinated by ICREA Prof. Jose A. Garrido, leader of the ICN2 Advanced Electronic Materials and Devices Group, aims to take these ultra-slim sensors through to the first clinical trial stage.

La Cadena SER interviewed Prof. Jose Garrido during a recent edition of La Ventana (the interview starts at minute 30). He discusses different potential applications of such biomedical devices.
