This educational programme, co-organised by Fundació Catalunya La Pedrera, ICN2 and IFAE, is aimed at high school students with a special interest and talent for physics.
The closing event of 'Bojos per la Física' 2024 took place on 9 November at ICN2. This initiative is organised by Fundació Catalunya la Pedrera, ICN2, and IFAE as part of the Bojos per la Ciència educational programme. Throughout the course, the students had the opportunity to attend different sessions at leading research centres and facilities, such as IFAE, ICMAB, ICFO, ALBA Synchrotron, and ICN2. They could learn first-hand about the work of scientists, as well as understand the current challenges of the different branches of physics, including astronomy, quantum, materials science, photonics or nanoelectronics.
During the closing ceremony, the participating students shared their experiences and highlighted their favourite sessions and the most inspiring aspects of each of the areas of physics they had the opportunity to learn about. They could speak with Carla Caro, a former Bojos per la Física participant and physics student at the Universitat de Barcelona (UB), who shared her personal and professional experiences after her time on the programme. The event was also attended by Josep Freixanet and Sebastián Grinschpun, from the IFAE Communication and Outreach team, as well as Chema Arcos, Scientific Communicator in the ICN2 Marketing, Communication and Fundraising department, who congratulated the students, awarded them with diplomas accrediting their participation in the course, and stressed the importance of fostering scientific vocations in young people.
