Q-UAB Days 2025: Quantum Science Takes Over the UAB Campus

by Chema Arcos

Several researchers from ICN2 took an active part in the Q-UAB Days, a series of activities aimed at highlighting the strategic importance and recent breakthroughs in quantum science and technology.

From 5 to 7 May, the Faculty of Science of the UAB hosted the Quantum Days at UAB (Q-UAB Days), an event designed to explore, through talks and panel discussions, how the latest advances in quantum science are transforming key areas of technological development, from telecommunications and computing to materials science. The conference, organised by UAB, IMB-CNM and ICMAB, with the support of ICN2 and IFAE, also served to celebrate the International Year of Quantum Science.

ICN2 was represented by researchers Dr Roshan Krishna (Ultrafast Dynamics in Nanoscale Systems Group) and Dr Aaron Cummings (Theoretical and Computational Nanoscience Group), who gave talks focusing on their respective research areas. Their presentations highlighted how quantum science is a strategic area that plays a key role in many of ICN2's research projects, given its relevance to developing future technologies and materials.

In short, the Q-UAB Days were a great opportunity to promote dialogue between scientists, students and anyone interested in quantum science, a field with great potential to improve our lives.
