From March 24th to 26th, ICN2 and Microbia Environnement have led a SMS training workshop on nanobiosensors for water monitoring at ICN2 facilities. SMS is a project funded by the European Commission to promote the development of novel sensing devices for seawater quality monitoring.
The ICN2, together with Microbia Environnement, has held a workshop on nanobiosensors for water monitoring on March 24-26, hosted by ICREA Research Prof Arben Merkoci, Group Leader at ICN2. The workshop belongs to aseries of meetings organized by the Sensing toxicants in Marine waters makes Sense using biosensors (SMS) Project, funded by the European Commission and coordinated by University of Roma, which promotes the development of novel sensing devices for seawater quality monitoring. In this workshop, the topic was focused on NanoBiosensors as water monitoring devices.
The first day of the congress was dedicated to oral presentations on general consideration on fabrication of nanobiosensors and related platforms. The topics discussed during this part of the congress were related with nanomaterials-based lab-on-a-chip platforms and applications, probe design and testing and lab-on-a-chip systems working as biosensors, among others.
During the two following days, participants were able to have a hands-on experience in the lab. Different workshops took place in the ICN2 Nanobioelectronics and Biosensors Group laboratories, led by Prof Arben Merkoci. Many ICN2 researchers contributed to the congress with talks and demonstrations, such as: Dr Sandrine Miserere, Dr Alfredo de la Escosura, Dr Eden Morales, PhD Fabio Caetano, PhD Daniel Quesada, PhD Alejandro Zamora, PhD Andrzej Chalupniak from Nanobiolectronics and Biosensors Group or technician Irene Alvarez, from Nanostructured Materials for Photovoltaic Energy Group.
