Coordinated by Dr. Belén Ballesteros, Division leader of the Electron Microscopy Division, and the ICN2 HR & Education Department, the Program was launched on November 26 with a Seminar devoted to “Basic concepts on electron microscopy”.

The fifth edition of the ICN2 Open Knowledge (OK) Program explores some introductory notes on electron microscopy. As in previous editions of the OK Program, this series of talks have a high scientific level while offering a global overview of the matter suitable for all kinds of researchers and advanced Physics students. Coordinated by Dr. Belén Ballesteros, Division leader of the Electron Microscopy Division, and the ICN2 HR & Education Department, the Program was launched on November 26 with a Seminar devoted to “Basic concepts on electron microscopy”.

The first lecture of this OKP series, offered by Dr. Belén Ballesteros, was a general introduction on electron microscopy. The speaker explained the basic concepts including resolution, the parts of the microscope, electron-sample interaction, image formation and aberrations. The following Seminars of the series will be devoted to “Scanning electron microscopy”, “Transmission electron microscopy (TEM and STEM)” and “Analytical electron microscopy and sample preparation techniques”. Marcos Rosado and Francisco Belarre will be part of the team of speakers that will share their knowledge.

The ICN2 OK Program was initially intended as a way to share internal knowledge within ICN2. After a period of maturation, this initiative is now open to the Barcelona Nanocluster centers and to the UAB Campus and other external professionals interested in being part of this transversal and inspiring series of talks. Please stay tuned and register previously to the lectures that you are willing to attend.
